Elba, with its 147 kilometres of coastline, indented with grottos and beautiful inlets and small bays that are rich in life, all surrounded by a crystal clear sea, is the perfect place to go sea-kayaking.
But going sea kayaking on Elba also means going on a journey across a great variety of landscapes, types of beaches and constantly changing colours that only the morphology of an island like Elba can give you: from the white, golden or black sands beaches and granite pebble coasts with their intense blue sea to the white pebble beaches with crystal clear water that is so clear as to make the kayaks seem suspended in air; and last but not least the emerald green eastern coasts.
By paddling around Elba you will get to exclusive ravines that can only be reached by sea, so are therefore even more natural and untouched. Since kayaks are both completely silent and very easy to use, you will be able to get very near two different types of cormorants and, naturally, the splendid herring gulls, sometimes curious and friendly, as well as the smaller Audouin's gulls.
The kayaks from the excursion centre Il Viottolo are planned for sea excursion use and have watertight compartments so you can carry on board photographic equipment, baggage, tents and sleeping bags for longer excursions.
For sea-kayaking excursions on the Island of Elba we recommend the environmental guides of the excursion centre Il Viottolo, who will give you all the advice you need.
